🎒 High School Student Pathway

Learn about nature in your area, join a student conservation community, and work toward local or state BHOF induction.

  • Download iNaturalist and create an account. Ask your teacher or parent if you need help with setup.
  • Join your school's Biodiversity Club or active class project.
  • Explore nearby parks or school grounds to submit observations. Remember to only document wild species.
  • Strive for 100 unique Research-Grade observations across taxonomic groups (Plants, Birds, Bugs, etc.) to qualify for induction.

🔍 For Researchers

Leverage student-generated, research-grade datasets to support biodiversity studies.

  • Collaborate with the BHOF team to request access to obscured or private observation coordinates on a case-by-case basis.

Coordinate district, ecoregional, or statewide bioblitz events to engage school systems.

  • Design and register cooperative bioblitz events on iNaturalist.
  • Establish Baseline projects for ecoregion-level tracking.
  • Create regional leaderboards that align with BHOF tiers and jurisdictions.

  • Help build out local BHOF web and database infrastructure.
  • Coordinate outreach and promote the program to regional schools.
  • Provide mentorship, resources, or support to student biodiversity clubs.
